Thayendanegea or Joseph Brant (1742 – November 24, 1807) was a Mohawk leader and British military officer during the American Revolution.

Brant was perhaps the most well-known North American Native of his generation, meeting and negotiating with presidents and kings of England, France and the newly formed United States.

Brant's postwar years were spent attempting to rectify the injustice of the Iroquois lands being handed over to the U.S.

in the 1783 Treaty of Paris.
